sangria sunday

are you starting to see what type of weekend i had? i mean my mom, sister, and nephew were up to see me, why not celebrate!

after a long day of celebrating cousins graduating from high school and college we came back to my apartment and i had brewed just the perfect treat the day before (yes the same day as pancakes for breakfast, aunt/sister/daughter of the year!!!) this bad boy hit. the. spot.

a nice refreshing sangria, complete with lemons and strawberries. this was my first sangria (a weekend of first of me!) and i wasn’t in love in love (unlike my love for chris on the bachelorette) but everyone else was. but the next night i had it, in love.

this is like the perf pool drink. just remember plan ahead and brew the day before so all the fruit has been incorporated.

lemon strawberry sangria (from kitchen treaty)

2 lemons, thinly sliced

1 apple, cored and cut into this pieces

1 cup stawberries, hulled

1 750 ml bottle dry white wine (i used chardonnay)

1/2 cup white rum (i used bacardi)

4 cups lemon lime soda

add lemon slices, apple, and strawberries to 2 liter pitcher. pour wine and rum on top of fruit. place in fridge and let sit overnight. before serving add lemon lime soda and mix. pour in glass and top with fruit.

* if you’re not going to drink it all in one sitting (and who would?!?! me.) don’t add soda to pitcher. instead pour glass 2/3 way full and top with soda and fruit.

now can someone please “contact” my dad and tell him i need one of his old cameras so all of my pictures won’t be yellow anymore. great. thanks!
